Judge Hyde appointed to NACo committee

February 8-14, 2016

Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde has been appointed to serve on the National Association of Counties’ (NACo) Justice & Public Safety Steering Committee.

The committee is comprised of 133 members representing counties across the nation. It focuses on all matters pertaining to criminal justice and public safety systems, including criminal justice planning, law enforcement, courts, corrections, homeland security, community crime prevention, juvenile justice and delinquency prevention, emergency management, fire prevention and control, and civil disturbances.

“It’s an honor to represent the residents of Pulaski County and the state of Arkansas. Serving on NACo’s Justice & Public Safety Steering Committee will be a tremendous experience,” Hyde said.

Hyde, who served three terms as a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, was elected Pulaski County judge in November 2015. He also is chairman of the board of Hydco, Inc., a commercial construction company that he founded in North Little Rock.

Association of Arkansas Counties Executive Director Chris Villines said Hyde’s appointment to the NACo committee is a positive development for counties nationwide.

“Judge Hyde has been successful in his private endeavors, the public sector as a legislator, and now, as a county judge,” said Chris Villines, AAC executive director. “Counties across the nation will be well served by his appointment to the NACo Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee. We know he will represent Arkansas well in this role and am proud to have him in county government.”
