On Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, members of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce gathered at Sunstar of Arkansas on 11700 Cantrell Road for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the agency as a new member.

Sunstar Insurance Group recently acquired the property/casualty business from Simmons First Insurance. Sunstar Insurance of Arkansas also includes Henry Jordan of Helena and his agency, First Delta.

Andrew Meadors, CEO of Sunstar of Arkansas, said prior to the ribbon cutting, “We’re about relationships and we’re carrying on the tradition of pristine and quick customer service … We’re thrilled to get going with the Chamber and take advantage of all the opportunities, workshops, and speakers that they have to offer.”

Founded in 2017, Sunstar of Arkansas is an independent insurance agency serving families and business in the Little Rock area. The agency offers a broad spectrum of insurance products that support business lines of commercial insurance, personal insurance, employee benefits insurance and surety bonding. As a subsidiary of the Sunstar Insurance Group, the Little Rock office is part of the top 56th largest independent insurance agencies in the United States.

The agency group serves Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Kansas, with roots in the Allen Kerr Insurance Agency (1981) which transitioned to Delta Trust & Bank Insurance agency (2013), and to Simmons First Insurance (2014). Marliese Kerr, one of the original owners of the Kerr Agency, signed on with Sunstar of Arkansas as Executive vice President.

Meadors continued, “We have the spirit of a very large independent insurance agency – we’re not a big tough, mean national broker or regional broker where it’s all about numbers all the time.” As CEO of the Arkansas and Tennessee markets, Meadors brings 30-years experience and is also a certified risk manager.

Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr, was also present, and remarked, “As you know, we regulate all things insurance and we’re awful, awful glad to see insurance agencies thrive and do business in Arkansas. […] This agency has done really well – they have grown and look forward to a very prosperous future down the road.”
