BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MAUMELLE, COUNTY OF PULASKI, STATE OF ARKANSAS, AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED: ORDINANCE NO. 964

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE COMPENSATION SCHEDULE FOR THE ELECTED POSITION OF the City Clerk/treasurer OF THE CITY OF MAUMELLE

WHEREAS, since 2001, the City of Maumelle has operated as a Mayor-Council form of government, bringing about differences in the structure of the Administration and a need to identify an appropriate level of compensation for elected positions which had not existed prior thereto;

WHEREAS, the City has endeavored to review these compensation issues regularly since that time to keep the compensation current and comparable;

WHEREAS, this year, pursuant to Maumelle City Code § 2-564, the Compensation of Elected Officials Committee was formed with the purpose of analyzing the compensation of elected officials and making certain recommendations to the City Council concerning the compensation;

WHEREAS, the Committee, which was comprised of at least four citizens and two members of the City Council has taken its charge seriously and now presents its recommendations to the City Council in the form of this ordinance; and

WHEREAS, the City Clerk/Treasurer of Maumelle currently receives a salary of $57,120.00 per year.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MAUMELLE, ARKANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Effective January 1, 2019, the City Clerk/Treasurer shall be paid an annual salary of $61,800.00 per year.

SECTION 2. Repealer. All other ordinances or resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict.

SECTION 3. Severability. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or other portion of this ordinance is found to be unconstitutional, invalid, or inoperative by a court of competent jurisdiction, such findings shall not affect the validity of the remainder of these sections, nor shall any proceeding invalidating any portion of any section operate to affect any portion of the remainder of said sections not specifically attacked in said proceeding.
