The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has partnered with the University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College to create a new matching scholarship for UA-Pulaski Tech transfer students who continue their education at UA Little Rock.
“We are pleased to be partnering with UAPTC in enhancing access to educational opportunities in central Arkansas,” UA Little Rock Chancellor Christina Drale said. “For UA-Pulaski Tech students who wish to continue their studies at a four-year institution close to home, UA Little Rock is offering a special scholarship that will help make the transition more budget friendly and give them a chance to test the waters in pursuing additional credentials.”
Beginning in the fall, UA-Pulaski Tech students who transfer to UA Little Rock will receive a scholarship that matches their UA Little Rock tuition to their previous tuition at UA-Pulaski Tech. The scholarship, which is valued up to approximately $5,000 over four semesters, will be available to UA-Pulaski Tech students who are admitted to UA Little Rock as a first-time undergraduate transfer student for the fall 2023 semester and who have earned a technical certificate or higher from UA-Pulaski Tech prior to enrolling at UA Little Rock. The scholarship is renewable for one year for students who meet requirements.
“This transfer scholarship will provide qualifying UA-PTC students with a significant opportunity to further their education affordably,” UA-Pulaski Tech Chancellor Summer DeProw said. “This initiative stands to enhance retention and degree attainment at both institutions, which is truly a win-win scenario for Arkansas.”
It is the latest effort by UA Little Rock and UA-Pulaski Tech, which is UA Little Rock’s largest transfer partner, to help make college more affordable and accessible for students who want to complete their college education.
“It is an institutional priority for UA Little Rock to help students obtain their degree with little to no debt at graduation,” said Dr. Cody Decker, vice chancellor for student affairs and chief data officer. “This competitive transfer scholarship, along with a scholarship service that matches students with both internal and external scholarships, enables UA Little Rock to have one of the most affordable degree options in Arkansas.”
Students who want to take advantage of this new scholarship opportunity do not have to take any additional action. When they submit their college transcripts as part of the application process, any Pulaski Tech transfer students who are eligible for the scholarship will automatically have the scholarship applied to their tuition.
