Remembering Gregory Kitterman
October 29 - November 4, 2018
We at The Daily Record were saddened to learn of the passing of Gregory Kitterman on Oct. 17, 2018. He was a member of the Pulaski County Bar Association, a past president of the Pulaski County Bar Foundation, an outstanding attorney, and a family man who loved the outdoors. To honor his legacy, a scholarship will be established at the UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law in his name.
We take the time to remember him as well as honor him and his family with these apt words from Judge Morgan ‘Chip’ Welch:
“I met him shortly after he became a lawyer, around 1985. He was the most affable young man I’d ever run across, with a ready smile or joke for every occasion.
During his early practice, I collaborated with Greg sometimes and referred cases to him often because I knew he’d do a good job. I wasn’t alone. Lots of older lawyers recognized his spark early on and sent clients his way. Invariably, those clients were grateful.
Needless to say, his practice took off, and he quickly surpassed his older peers. He was self-effacing about his success and always a happy warrior.
Over the decades, sadly, we got to be the kind of friends who saw each other infrequently. I’d see him and Susie at ATLA and Bar functions, but not much otherwise.
I knew of his fight with cancer, of his determination to win it and of the deeply held faith in God which sustained him. I also was keenly aware of Susie’s presence in that fight right there with Greg, year after year. She was the rock that Greg clung to, and his love for her was clear and resolute.
Recently, Greg Kitterman lost his 6 year battle. Our legal community is diminished and Cheryl and I, among many thousands of others, have lost a friend.
We send our love to Susie and the family. We pray for their comfort and for Gregory’s eternal soul.”
